swedish christmas candy. chewy caramel with a crunchy peppermint candy topping. like pretty much everyone said when i forced it on them, it sounds weird, but it's actually really good.

the recipe came out perfect on the first try. just make sure you watch the temperature, not the time. i think i'll try it again with salted butter and see if it balances out the sweetness. here's the recipe: http://saveur.com/article/Recipes/Peppermint-Caramels (note: when it says it makes 64 pieces, it means 64 eensy weensy little nibbles, not dessert servings.)

i wish i had a picture, because it came out prettier than it looks on saveur's site. the colors are more vibrant.
